"We've been traveling along the Maine coast for several days going northeast. We came upon your lovely island, softly covered in the cottony fog. Its smell of the sea and pine is so inviting - it brings back wonderful memories from childhood. Visited the Roosevelt home. How unpretentious - simple, elegant. Had a delicious supper at the Lodge. The smoked pollock - what a delicacy! Those strawberry delights. The shrimp - lobster - courteous and friendly hostess. And then a wonderful treat for the children - that wonderful loft! "Arrived yesterday after deciding to venture further up the coast from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We were delighted to find the Lupine Lodge. Just a short walk in the woods behind the lodge - enchanting. Last night out of our window, the Big Dipper was huge, seeming to rest on top of the cottage behind us. Today is Bill's birthday and the island made it a special day for him. All day sightseeing and exploring. Walked to East Quoddy Lighthouse at low tide.
